Formatting and Grammar

Word automatically indents bullet points and then the wording is further indented. The bullet point doesn't need to be indented, only the wording.

When making a list using bullet points, Word automatically starts each new line with an upper case. This is usually gramatically incorrect.

Less automation, or improved automation will help improve grammar and formatting.

mystery

yes, it is a mystery how this application ever became the dominant word processor in businessl a modern document requires the ability to handle multiple languages and their macrons/accents, multiple spellings, inclusion of images and to be able to create contempory styled graphics - Word does all of those badly and beyond that dose some so clunkily that its easier to past info in from google docs or pages or export and refine documents in indesign or other programs. its bloated, the online interface is clunky and forces you to open multiple sites - and multiple applications, and is about 10 years behind in how people now work and communicate. Honestly it is like MS decide what is good an expect others to just accept it. use itif youmust as your overlords who pay you insist - but do like my students work elsewhere and past info into word as a last resort to maintain the appearance of conformity.

Save yourself the trouble

Go with google docs, unless you absolutely can't.

Word has too many bells and whistles you're never going to use (3d model in your word document, anyone?) - and it's this complexity that leads to neverending bugs.

Want to know how to share a document? That would seem like a pretty base-level requirement right? Well, it depends if you're on the sharepoint app, on OneDrive, Teams, or if you've just got it on a shared folder structure. Oh, you're on a mac? HERES SOME BUGS FOR YOU THEN BUDDY

Want to share a document but only allow someone to make comments, not edit it? NOPE

Want to overwrite a document that's sitting in sharepoint? Yeah okay that's fine OH WAIT NO SOMEONE HAS IT OPENED, CAN'T OVERWRITE IT. Hang on microsoft, no one has that doc opened. WAIT AN HOUR AND ASK ME AGAIN.

I don't get any of this sh... stuff with google docs. The everyday baloney I have to put up with with the MS suite is just rediculous, and comes out of an outdated software model, and a company that hasn't had to deal with any real competition for the first decade or two. You won't fix that bug any time soon, team.
