Need Alphabet list
App works well however so frustrated there is no alphabet listing on the right hand side of the screen to quickly select an album when using server. Only option is to manually scroll thru hundreds of albums to get to the right one. Hope you can fix this in a future update please!
I completely agree, when is the Alphabet list coming please?
Hardware: excellent, Software: not so much
Yamaha make excellent hardware. I use this app on several MusicCast players throughout the house. It streams and connects to tidal and the like easily. Streaming via a nas box or locally stored music is easy. Initial setup of the wireless network is overly complicated. The app itself is very clunky and laggy. The main frustration for me is the lack of gapless playback. There is a 4-5 sec gap between tracks regardless but only in this app. Using the system via airplay or Bluetooth no problems. I’d rather use a third party app to control the hardware. That has better integration and functionality than the ‘native’ software. It honestly needs a complete overhaul.
Update: while the new look looks great, the same issues are still there. Airplay has become is super sketchy, with ultra fibre wireless 500+ gb/s at home it still stutters and stuggles to play smoothly. Sometimes it plays fine, but 4 out of 5 times it just stutters along and is impossible to stop. My wifi unit has a direct line of site to the equipment and it still does it. Becoming a waste of time to be honest and I’d rather invest in another system altogether.
Complicated and limited
This app is a real pain if you only have one connected Yamaha speaker. It’s really set up for people who have multiple speakers/rooms to control. With just one speaker, navigation is really inefficient and every week it’s a hassle trying to find the alarm settings. Which leads me to...
A huge annoyance is that the alarm is only on every day or off every day. It’s not possible to have it only active on weekdays, for example, which is a standard feature with many other clock radio/alarms. Because I use this as a wake-up alarm, I need to remember to deactivate it on Friday night and reactivate it on Sunday night.
These two issues make my experience with a Yamaha speaker irritating. I would not buy a Yamaha device again for thee reasons.
