Why BNZ created My Moni

Our core purpose at BNZ is to enable a high achieving New Zealand, by helping New Zealander’s be good with money. Making informed financial decisions is part of growing into adulthood and we realised that teens are often missing key financial knowledge and money management skills. So, we created My Moni, a safe space to practise making financial decisions while working towards a goal.

Credit Cards a viable option for teenage FMO? ( Fear of missing out)

I got this app thinking it might help my son get a handle on making wise choices.
I decided to give it a test drive before showing it to him and I’m really glad I did.

The third “challenge” presents the problem that the characters friends all have new laptops, bu the character doesn’t have enough savings and doesn’t want to miss out. What are the “ be wise with money” options are you presented with I hear you ask???
Credit cards!
All three options basically ask you to choose which credit limit / interest rate card you want to use!!
.... huh? Be wise with money???

Here’s a novel idea- save for it! Stay out of debt!!!

It’s horrible to think that credit cards are considered a viable option when trying to teach young kids and teens how to have a prosperous future - and especially the fact they are in an “ educational” app!

Yes credit cards are ( unfortunately) a part of society now but would it not be wiser to teach kids to stay away from these forms of bad credit?
BNZ you should be ashamed!

Not to be Totally Negative: game and character design is beautiful and clean. The 24 hour timeout between challenges is also a neat feature to prevent teens binge playing, so kudos on that part guys.!

Funnylolhehehaha x ,

Takes a long time

You have to wait 24hrs for every activity, my kid didn’t quite understand why it had to take so long and why there Couldn’t be a few activities each day to keep interest
