Occupation Outlook is designed to help students make well-informed career choices. It provides vital information on over 100 occupations in New Zealand, covering around 90% of employment in the labour market.

Each occupation has three dials that indicate its relative income, fees, and job prospects. These can be sorted by highest to lowest and tapped on to reveal a wealth of content about education requirements, average incomes, and employment growth.

The app now also has a subject-levels-to-occupation matching tool that you can use to indicate your desired level of education in key subject areas and get back matching occupations.

Occupation Outlook is an award-winning mobile app produced by the New Zealand Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE).

Great tool

Good to have relevant up to date information on careers and how to get into them.

The Emazonian ,

Misleading and superficial

This app is too superficial, and the future looks quite bleak particularly for the creative industries.

Understandably only a limited amount of jobs have been included under a limited amount of industries, but this approach is sadly misleading and potentially damaging.

For the young people I work with in the tertiary sector training for work in the creative and cultural industries, this app is a gross misrepresentation of all they know and are preparing for as innovative, hard-working and entrepreneurial young New Zealanders ready to contribute to the wider economy.

Very useful app

Looking forward to the 2016 version if there will be one (??!)
