Description

The calm Pacific waters around Midway Island are shattered with the sound of Corsairs and Zeros in a dogfight to see who will win the battle over Midway Island. Take off from your carrier, attack enemy planes, drop bombs on islands and return to refuel and rearm. You can almost smell the aviation fuel in the air.

What a shame!

Awesome idea, nice graphics but so poorly executed.

The coding in this game is very poor, lots of bugs.

For example in level 1 I had bombed the island and hit two planes on the ground at the same time. The explosion stayed on screen like a burn mark. When I landed on the carrier this old explosion mark lined up with the deck. The coding seemed to interpret this as an enemy bomb had hit the carrier and the 'Enemy hit carrier' count started increasing, eventually getting to over 450 hits before I restarted the game. Even after restarting the burn mark was still there, even in the start up screen! It only disappeared when I forced the app to close.

There seems to be no acknowledgment of completing a level. After spending 30mins or so bombing the lower right island (that's another bug, bombs only seem to count if you see them land, so circle hard after bombing the runway!) the arrow turned green to signal I had conquered the island, however no enemy planes appeared from the other islands so I spent another boring 30 mins going back and forth to bomb the islands one bomb at a time. Even when all island arrows had turned green (conquered) nothing happened, I landed on all the islands and again on the carrier, still nothing. Had I completed the level?, I have no idea.

I certainly wasn't going to try the other three levels after such an unsatisfying first level so no idea how far the bugs go.

The only real good point the game was free, but what a disappointment.
