I cannot believe products are not backwards compatible!

After spending an absolute fortune on 3 different full systems for my house, I now find that adding a new play 5 to my system will not work!!

I was such a believer in this system, and believed that all new products would be backwards compatible to Sonos S1! What a waste of time and money.... I’m exceptionally disappointed in the developers for not considering your existing client base!

The app gets worse and worse

After seeing how excited Sonos were about their new app update, I got excited. Maybe the responsiveness and stability would improve I thought. All that seems to have happened is they have introduced a customizable home page, changed the look and feel, and removed a lot of controls/options fundamental to my listening experience. I listen to my own curated playlists and like to combine multiple playlists into one big queue on shuffle, and sometimes remove and add to the queue as I go. Now the queue often doesn’t even load, when it does I can’t edit it at all, add or remove tracks. Basic! Did Sonos even seek customer feedback on this? I can’t imagine they did. The original app in use 9 years ago when I first got Sonos was much faster and more responsive. It’s gotten worse and worse and has been the reason I haven’t added any more speakers to the 7 own, for years now. I need to look for a better system

Do NOT update to version 80! Sleep timer and alarms don’t work!

If, like me, your Sonos system is in your bedroom and you use alarms and sleep timers as part of your sleep/wake routine then bad news; the version 80 update will brick your Sonos, as alarms and sleep timers aren’t supported. Yep, one of the key bits of functionality I use daily has just been lost from Sonos. Why? Laziness? Who knows. There’s an entire cottage industry of sleep sounds makers, ambient musicians, and other wellness sound makers who can’t lull you to sleep on a timer. And apparently if you have a shifting schedule of wake up times to accommodate workouts etc, you need a laptop to prepare for your day’s alarm call on your Sonos. UPDATE: the app is also prone to logging me out, AND the desktop app doesn’t support alarms. It just keeps going from bad to worse.
Plus, the redesign looks horrible if you have your phone set to accommodate poor vision.
