Can’t set distant target servers
This service has always been great, and the app should enhance the experience, but unfortunately it doesn’t quite do that.
As it is, it is great for checking your local connection to servers in your area, but ths app only offers 100 servers to choose from ranging from the nearest to the farthest 100 servers. I can’f find any way to test estimated service speeds for global connections. For example, I am based in New Zealand but would like to test estimated speed for connections to Hong Kong, Singapore, San Francisco, London etc… but the furthest I can test is Tasmania in Australia. Those internet pipes go a greater distance than Tasmania! If Ookla enabled a wider search for servers then this would be a 5 star great app. Until then, I only give it 4 stars.
Good
I wish it would save the network name (SSID) when the test is run, it'd be nice to be able to filter history by SSID as well.
Very useful
I've been using this for several years to check my Vodafone broadband service. The history feature is particularly useful as evidence for persuading my ISP to pay attention to problems.
