Wow
I was actually worried about buying this, because I have encountered several star maps that need to have connection to the internet. This one doesn't and I'm glad I bought it.
Layout
Easy, very easy to use. No messing around, you can choose from planetarium which shows you only the objects you can see in the sky from your location. Whole map shows you everything, even the objects that you can't see from your location, and 3D mode, zoom around in 3D space at the rate of a few lightyears per second.

Detail
The description is not exaggerating, it is very detailed, it has thousands of stars, nebulae, galaxies and other deep sky objects, shows not only their name, but also their distance from earth and magnitude, both apparent and absolute, and their exact coordinates in the sky. You can also choose the detail of the map by selecting the magnitude so you don't have thousands of stars clogging up the screen. It also looks quite good in colour.
