Marie Lewis, Rochdale

“My class have reaped loads of benefits from using the programme and the difference in some of their reading skills has been dramatic."
Maria Andrews, Foundation Phase Teacher

"This is a fabulous game. I'm not kidding when I say that my daughter essentially learned all her letter sounds using First steps, with relatively minimal input from me! Great for parents to practise their letter sounds too."

Ok

Fun app but moves through the letter sounds too quickly, before my son has had a chance to learn them properly. He struggles to complete some of the games as he doesn’t remember most of the sounds.

It’s also a pity that the sounds are said quietly compared with the voice instructions.

Developer Response ,

Hi there, we've made the audio sounds much louder now and you can also turn the music down or off in the settings. You can also play with specific letter sounds of your choice in the Practice mode and you'll be pleased to know that the game will also repeat letter sounds that a player has struggled on, in later challenges throughout the game.

Fun

This has been available for students on the computer or the families bought the app for other devices. I drew attention to the app during lockdown and it was great for students to review prior knowledge and build on what they know. The feedback from families is very positive. One parent said the only problem is getting her son off it! Another said it was great for her daughter to practise verbalising the sounds as she is shy when speaking.
