Travelers are constantly bombarded with bad advice from non-experts and false product claims, resulting in many persistent misconceptions about jet lag and how to alleviate it.

It's time to replace the myths with real circadian science:

In your brain, you have a 24-hour circadian clock that regulates nearly all of your biological functions. Jet lag is caused when your sleep/wake and light/dark cycle shift too quickly for your circadian clock to keep up. The only way to reduce jet lag quickly is by shifting your circadian clock to the new time zone.

Light is the most important time cue for “shifting” your circadian clock. Light exposure and avoidance, at the right time, will significantly accelerate your adaptation. Seeing or avoiding light at the wrong time — as often recommended by non-experts — will shift your circadian clock the wrong way making your jet lag worse.

Highly recommended!!

I’ve recently travelled from New Zealand to the Southern States of the USA, then a quick turnaround back to Aust before heading back home to NZ. I needed something to help with reducing the impact of Jetlag when I hit the US, then to guide me back across the Timezone shifts as I travelled back to Aust five days later.

I found Timeshifter intuitive to use and follow. I liked that I could enter all of my flight legs and that it gave me useful notification to help me along the way.

I have and will recommend Timeshifter to anyone travelling internationally and wanting to be at their best when they get to their destination.

Best decision ever!

I flew via the USA to the UK recently and followed the notifications from Timeshifter as best I could. I experienced the tiniest bit of jet lag in the first evening I was in the UK (maybe 10 minutes) and had a similar experience on return. Some instructions were a bit awkward, for example I was in the queue in LAX and had to wear my dark glasses and during one flight I needed to have bright light when the lights were dimmed on the plane, but I just opened my phone and did some reading with the brightness up. It was totally worth it to feel so free of the awful jet lag I usual get!!

Brilliant!

I Used this app for my first long haul flight from Auckland to London as everyone kept saying we would need 3 days to recover from jet lag. I didn’t want to waste 3 precious days so searched for help online and found this one. I can honestly say there was no jet lag, in fact the hotel manager where we stayed for 3 days in London could not get over how good I looked and was very interested in learning about what I did! I felt no different really and slept really well straight away. Second day in London we walked 8km sightseeing!! That’s how normal we felt. This app is the best and I am one day away from starting for the trip back. Thanks!!
