Description
Topo GPS is a topographic mapping app. You can use it to plan routes and add points with customizable icons to the map. Created routes and points can be automatically synced with your iPhone via iCloud. You can try the app for free, but to use the app with the maps in the highest resolution, you need to purchase a map.

Fantastic App
I have tried many apps and so glad this now supports North America. The distance markers, the simple offline caching feature, adding waypoints, is all great for follow gpx tracks when I need more detail or a richer UX than the garmin.
One small request would be to show elevation ascent/descent on a portion of the track. Perhaps as you zoom into and out of the elevation profile so I can clearly see the next 100k of elevation gain ahead of me. Otherwise perfect!
This app is very stable even with large files (unlike RideWithGps which crashed frequently and can’t handle large files!)
Super Useful App
I use this fantastically handy app every time I go hunting or tramping. It reliably places me on the NZ Topo maps every time even when I’m in bush and irrespective of cellphone coverage. I can’t say they do a good job of user interface or providing online tutorials though, so I keep discovering new and useful features just from using it. But it is so good I’m always recommending it. Given the insignificant cost of the app against the cost of a stand alone GPS device there’s simply no reason not to get this.
