Description
The App Cam Solo is a full HD, weatherproof smart camera. Completely wire-free, the app cam is battery powered with advanced power-saving technology featuring up to 180 days standby time. With quick and easy installation, the camera can be placed anywhere inside or outside of the home.
Offering a 110-degree viewing angle, which provides a greater field of vision, the Guardian App Cam Solo can be fitted to any flat surface with an easy-to-install magnetic base. Also included is an optional screw base for those more easy-to-reach areas, such as the front door. Cameras can be twisted to an angle to suit any situation and easily moved around the home without the need to re-wire or place near a power source, providing complete flexibility when setting up viewing angles.
The App Cam Solo connects directly to the local Wi-Fi network and features motion detection recording directly to an SD card. Users can access the App Cam Solo with a Smartphone or tablet via the free to download Uniden Solo app, which also provides users remote access to the cameras to check-in from anywhere in the world. With optional app push notifications when motion or sound is detected, users can be reassured the home is safe while at work or on holiday.
Users can connect as many cameras as they wish in areas such as, the driveway, garage, front and back entrances and upstairs. The camera can even be used to check on pets or babies while in other areas of the house.
The camera features PIR motion sensor, which detects movement and will send notifications to the user via the app. Users have the ability to two-way talk in real time through the camera, for easy communication with visitors including couriers, while also acting as a deterrent to unwanted guests.

I would give a better rating if this app could notify me when my cameras detect movement. The fact it does not means I need to record daily when I’m absent from home when I would prefer to only record once I’m notified it has spotted a person entering my property.
If you could work on that I would recommend this product to others for purchase. Considering I paid quite a lot for this product, something as simple as a notification would benefit purchasers tremendously.
If you could work towards making this suggestion an addition, would be a MASSIVE improvement.. thanks
Not so useful
It records when it detects movement, but on this setting, the batteries do not last anything like 180 days, more like 20-30 days. Batteries are expensive - about US$10 each in a hardware store, and it takes 4 - unless you order them in bulk online, and those are low quality and give even less time. It does not notify when movement is detected, so if you are away for a while, you only get the pictures when you return. You have to take the card out to get them, it is time consuming and fiddly. Better then nothing, but it does not come close to what is advertised.
Has potential to be a great app. 21/1/23
The set up was very easy and I had high hopes for what should be an easy and intuitive app. However different settings seem to be hidden everywhere, coupled with painfully slow loading times of both the menus and loading the live view makes it such a frustrating process.
Once set up and the camera detects activity, you get a notification.. open the app as soon as it comes up and you have about 45-60 second wait while it loads, which is enough time to miss what’s happened. You then load into the cloud tab to see the recording…another wait….
I understand that pulling a recording from the cloud takes time but the live view really should be quicker.
In addition the main menu screen that shows all camera at once doesn’t update on app startup.
Conclusion; it is a free service linked with an entry level security camera, yes it would be nice to be faster and more user friendly, but it is still very usable.
If there is an update in the future, I shall update my review accordingly.
