People power meets the open road in this amazing navigation app. Waze’s crowd-sourced alerts come from real drivers, not algorithms, delivering info you won’t see anywhere else to keep your commute flowing. The friendly interface and convenient detour routing really help the app shine, and its social-network integration make road trips with buddies a blast.
Contented user for many years now.
Have been on a road trip these past few days and experienced several app crashes mid-drive.
Word to the wise, launching the app while driving down a mountain road or when doing 100 on the motorway, then trying to key in your destination - not advisable.
Update: It’s January 2020, about six months since my comments about Waze crashing mid-drive up that mountain and unfortunately the problem is still there: I’m currently driving from Wellington to Tauranga and have experienced 3-5 crashes before hour three of said drive.
Wanted to stay faithful but have had to switch to another app that’s more stable.
Needs improvements
1. We drive on the left and sit on the right. The speedometers at top left of screen is mostly unreadable during day time driving. The position and colour don’t work. An option to see it top right and maybe in yellow would be good.
2. I want to return by the same route I took to get from A-B but instead I have been directed along a completely different and longer route to go from B-A. Very annoying. I could understand if I needed to avoid a road closure or if the return route was safer but there is no reason to direct me back the longer way.
3. Heavy traffic is reported but the map is not clear in which direction the traffic is congested, and sometimes it is right- and often it is wrong for my direction. The red line applies to oncoming traffic, not me.
There is a lot of really good features and settings but there are annoying aspects. I have get to work out how I can voice operate Waze when I am driving, or if that is even possible. Seems it should be. It was fun to record my own voice for directions.
