Sunk cost fallacy
Slow enough to frustrate you into in-app purchases, game enough to keep you playing once you start. The gameplay loop equates to repeating the same combat mini game indefinitely with a few “dungeons” after ~20 “evolve to next age”s to earn massively overpriced gems for a gacha that gives you mediocre troop stats. Said gacha gave me the same common freeze ability 11 times in a row. Watching ads is an ingame quest and the only good ads you can watch (extra food, earn gems, enter dungeon) are limited to 2 per day. Meat sheild units will consistently push your ranged units to the frontline and enemy units become nearly invincible hiding behind their base which has a massively inflated health pool
TLDR the game does everything short of punching you in the face to frustrate you into watching ads or spending money
Poor progression
As someone who has played video games heavily for the past 17 years, this game punishes you for advancing, which doesn’t make much sense since progression should be rewarded.
Take hours to defeat the first area? Dont worry, you’ll take even longer to defeat the second.
There is no power creep, no learning curve, it’s just plain punishment. Game is decent for what it is, but it’s not worth investing more than an hour or two into it.
