v6 is a step back but will hopefully get better!

14 May 2020.

I wrote the below review back in Jan just after v6 was launched, and five months on (May 13) we’re at v6.6. I must say that as of this release, there have been subtle but welcome improvements, particularly in the dashboard which now provides additional instantaneous feedback. The Forecast detail view has also improved and automatically anchors to the current date and time so I don't have to swipe left to find the relevant info. On the hour tab, the day heading only changes when hour 0 and 23 transitions over the left or right of the screen respectively, which can be a little confusing. I think it would be clearer if the centre line were the trigger, so the day heading changed when 0 and 23 passed under it. It's now possible to view other weather staion info, including my own, when I touch the station icons on the map. You can also launch and view the forecast from the selected station. It’s great to see a widget back again! On a final note, there are still other improvements I’d like to see but I’m buoyed by the fact that there is clearly an active development program in an effort to regain the popularity this app clearly enjoyed.... Let's hope they succeed!

We were warned! Unfortunately, with every new major release, the rush to launch invariably results in lost features in favour of new ”enhancements” typically decided by developers and not end-users. The reason for the version change could be numerous and valid however the current offering requires a lot more work and sadly we may never get back all of the old features we've come to enjoy. Many areas at present, are unwieldy and have become cluttered in detail view. There certainly is more detail in some areas however it's at the expense of clear instantaneous visual feedback without ”fiddling” with the display, particularly where the timeline indicator is not anchored to the current time on entry. Anyway, there's a bunch of things I could comment on, but I'm hoping the next point releases will come thick and fast and get this app back to the great one it used to be.

iPhone ap

iPhone ap has gone backwards. Very difficult to access personal weather station data. No access to any history. PC version is also slot less user friendly than it used to be. This is one if the few apps that is getting worse and worse. It is now just focussed on providing general forecast data. And long longer supports the personal rather stations that provide it with free data.

New interface not a good as old style

I agree with kiwinguy. I preferred the older version. Maps is a pain where it is, it’s slow to load. Just wanted a simple glance at the weather now have to tap on “more”. It’s also become too expensive to remove adds. Hopefully the next update is a major improvement, will be patient & hold out til see what changes have been implemented.
