Progression

Hello,

Hands up to the idea reminds me of the interactive ep of Black Mirror. I like the actors and the hard work put in. However I do not understand how I can unlock scenes and check my progression. I feel like I’ve explored every chapter but there are “coming soon” blocks. This is the only pit stop for me. Pleas explain if I have to do something more to unlock those decisions or if it really is just coming soon on developer side. I can see huge potential in this game with a never ending amount of creative extensions. I’m super excited for more decisions and a lot more movies to hack. It’s like a drug I need more hahaha

Developer Response ,

Hiya! It’s a tempting rabbithole indeed, we’re victims as well! Btw, new stuff will arrive later in April. ;) As for “coming soon” at certain turning points, we’ve just added 16 new endings to the original 32, so a lot of those avenues are now open for exploration. (And yes, more are coming.) As for tracking your progress, there are two ways right now. Within a single path, you can see movie progress and your voting record (up or down) at the top of the screen while watching. You can also track the endings you’ve seen (collected / unlocked) by tapping the human-looking emoticon on the bottom right. Hope this helps!

Looks skux!

I’m beached with a broken ankle, so might as well discuss the movie. (There’s just one now, Anatomy of a Decision. But more seem to be coming.) You guide a boy from an embryo to adulthood. Multi-year jumps create gaps in his story, but since each storyline is a short film in its own right I’m glad they’re not several hours long. Took me a couple of endings to see the big difference in how these decisions affect Junior’s life. And that’s where the fun kicks in. In one case, he becomes a violinist, has a psychotic episode and sees penguins everywhere. In another, he has one eye, flips burgers and puts someone in the freezer. :) Heaps of fun!

Glad you like it! There are silly, ordinary and criminal paths sprinkled all over. Plenty to discover. Hope your ankle feels better!

A movie that’s a game that’s still a movie

Turns out you don’t need 3D animation to make a game. You need actors and a camera. :D Each choice I make pushes the movie in a new direction. Not in a gimmicky way tho. Hats off to the writer, he’s got a sick imagination. Looks like actors and makeup peeps were busy. A lot of footage. Swiping to make choices feels good. Smart move to make the app social.. when you watch and vote with friends, the chat layer is super handy.

Developer Response ,

Indeed. Older folks tend to watch movies alone, or at least in silence. :) Young people like to share. We’ve made this last bit central to our experience. Chat helps find agreement when you have conflicting votes in your hack party. And it’s a great place for jokes or gifs as you watch. Collecting and sharing endings is also part of our social approach. If you unlock an ending and there’s no one to see it, did you really unlock it? ;)
