All your favourite Disney and Pixar characters – more than 30 – have come to rumble in Disney Heroes: Battle Mode.
The mild combat is simple and cartoonish enough for ages 9 and up. Buzz Lightyear, Elastigirl, Mr. Incredible and others team up for five-on-five fights against nefarious ninja, evil robots and weird-world versions of famous Disney characters.
As you’d expect from Disney, the animation is terrific – just watch Elastigirl streeetch to meet her enemies. And you’ll enjoy Battle Mode’s sounds as much as the sights: the electronica-inspired soundtrack is packed with glitchy blips and crunchy cracks.
Take control
It’s also good for short attention spans. Each level has three stages, and you have 90 seconds to clear each stage. To succeed against the game’s toughest foes, you’ll need to upgrade your team members and use their skills at just the right moment.
Level it out
Have a soft spot for The Lion King’s Simba and Nala? They are adorable, but don’t focus on powering up only one or two favourites. Low-level characters can get knocked out easily, which’ll leave the rest of the team facing insurmountable odds. Upgrade new additions to your squad using XP drinks, and try to keep all of your characters’ levels as even as possible.
Be elite
Once you’ve reached Team Level 11, head over to the Elite tab (at the bottom of the city map) to replay stages with tougher enemies but greater rewards. It’s a surefire way to earn hero chips, which you can use to evolve your favourite characters into even more powerful champions.

The chase for an ever-stronger team is your challenge. Watching as Woody, Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps align to beat down ninjas? That’s your reward.
