There are a hundred different ways to share things with your friends, but Discord stands out as a particularly good one.

This app first made its name among videogame players, but these days, Discord is used by everyone, in no small part because it’s easy to understand, quick to set up and slick to use.

You can create individual groups (called servers) for different topics, and then separate chat rooms within that server. Once you’re set up, the app makes it easy to share text, audio, photos and video.

Create chat rooms for your gamer pals, work pals, going-out pals and more.

So, for example, you can create a server for your work colleagues, invite everyone to it, then make separate chats for conference calls and sharing slides.

Likewise, you can create servers for your friends: the group that you play videogames with, the group that goes to the cinema together and so on.

The app makes it super-easy to switch between any groups you’re in, and shows you where you have new messages. Checking who’s online is a breeze, and sending a private message is as simple as tapping the screen.

Joining a friend’s group is also a doddle, and Discord helps you every step of the way. In fact, it’s so user-friendly, it really ought to have been called “Cordial”.
