A Ball Bouncer With Depth

View

Man, this game is moreish. Holedown is one of those games that gets its hooks into you immediately, inviting you to delve ever deeper into that eponymous fissure with each play.

Oh, and it stars a charming little worm. What more could you ask for?

With a drag of your finger, you fire little white balls down into the screen, bouncing them off the different shapes blocking your descent. Each blockage has a number on it which shows you how many times you need to hit it before it disappears.

Learning how to use the curved edges to your advantage is key.

So the smart thing to do is to aim carefully and get the maximum number of bounces from each shot. Aim for the curved edges to get the balls bouncing horizontally and you’re onto a winner; you can also do major damage by firing balls into an enclosed space.

The keener your aim, the further down the hole you go, and after each round you’re gifted little perks and upgrades that help you to go deeper with each run.

Holedown tickles the same part of the brain as Peggle and Angry Birds – there’s something incredibly satisfying about firing things into a space and watching the chaos unfold. And please, have a tap of the little worm guy peeking out from the bottom right hand corner – he’s got some interesting thoughts on capitalism and the means of production.
