There’s a reason that VSCO is a staple in just about every photographer’s toolkit. Their presets look hip and feel human. But VSCO isn’t content with just being cool – it’s full of useful tools too.

Discover and learn

The Messages feature makes it easy to share ideas, ask for feedback or offer words of encouragement to any VSCO member who follows you. To send one, visit the person’s profile and tap Message.

You can now message fellow VSCO users directly in the app.

Apply one of the Portrait presets to punch up images while preserving natural skin tones. The G4 and G5 presets skew cool and blue, while G9 offers radiance and warmth.

The nine new presets in the Portraits series keep skin tones looking natural.

Edit and share

Once you get your settings just so, save them as a ‘recipe’. VSCO Membership allows you to create up to 10.

Add a colour border to your photos using the aptly named Borders tool (you’ll find it by scrolling all the way to the end of the photo-editing tools). You’re free to experiment with this feature, but to save a photo with a border you’ll need VSCO Membership.

Apply a bold, solid-colour border as thick or thin as you like. (VSCO X subscription required.)

Now you can export that amazing image for sharing outside VSCO – or, better yet, publish it directly to your own VSCO profile, which even has its own custom website link.
