Description
“... it is one of the most beautiful experiences for me that I have not been forgotten in Amorbach, the only place on this questionable planet where I after all still feel at home.”
Adorno to Annemarie Trabold, 31. Januar 1968
The image of Amorbach in the Odenwald has been rendered quite markedly to a broad and international public by T. W. Adorno’s Essay Amorbach (1966) which was published as a Suhrkamp paperback in 1967 “Ohne Leitbild. Parva Aesthetica” (now out of print). Translations of the text are available among others in Japanese, French, Italian and Dutch. Amorbach is meanwhile easily accessible in the Insel paperback “Theodor W. Adorno: Kindheit in Amorbach. Bilder und Erinnerungen”* (Editor R. Pabst, 2003).
Adorno’s autobiographic reflections on Amorbach give the material basis for the art stations in Amorbach and nearby surroundings.
At the topographical points he describes, his statements become audible.
