Description
Gylsboda. The small village 4 km southeast of Lönsboda has been called the cradle of the stone industry and is now an open-air museum.
A company town grew up around the quarry here in the late 1800s. During its heyday, about 400 men worked here, and a company town was established with nearly 1000 residents at its peak. There were shops, cafes, a dance floor, occupational health care, missionary and sports associations. Stroll around among preserved industrial buildings, piles of discarded stones, and the water-filled quarry.
