Gabay Guro is PLDT’s flagship advocacy program for teachers spearheaded by PLDT-Smart Foundation and the PLDT Managers Club, Inc.
Gabay Guro is PLDT’s flagship advocacy program for teachers spearheaded by PLDT-Smart Foundation and the PLDT Managers Club, Inc. Initially, a response to the call of the Philippines’ Department of Education (DepEd) for the private sector to help improve the quality of education in the Philippines, the program has been updated and enhanced to align with, and actively support, the United Nation’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
Through its Seven Key Pillars – Scholarships. Teachers’ Trainings, Livelihood Programs, Connectivity and Computerization, Teachers’ Tribute Events, and Digital Innovations -- Gabay Guro has empowered teachers across the country by giving them more opportunities to achieve a better and more sustainable future, and ultimately, to pass on these opportunities to the students whose lives they touch.
Technology
With today’s new normal of having to stay home AND work from home, maintaining social and professional connections has become a valid concern. Technology provides solutions for this, and especially for the education sector, has brought about a new model of connected teaching and learning. Teachers are linked to their students at an exponential rate, with more e-Learning systems and free educational courses now made easily available and accessible online. Digital education platforms provide assurance of standardized modules across learning levels and coursework that caters to all learning classifications and also help teachers improve their skills and even excel in their fields of mastery.
In collaboration with DepEd, the Gabay Guro App was developed and launched to lead digital transformation within the teaching community. The availability of and access to e-learning content, interactive technology, and digital tools and connections aim to enhance the teaching and learning experiences of teachers, as well as their students and their parents. The App marks Gabay Guro’s full commitment to enable teachers to create, grow, and evolve their craft for the maximum benefit of their students, ultimately creating a Smart-er, better-equipped, and better-connected community of Filipino educators and learners.
