Learn Learn Learn in a fun way

Noom knows and accepts that we are human. The people behind Noom knows that losing weight is difficult, that we will not always get it, that to learn, it needs to be fun. It accepts that progress can be slow. There is a coach but like any other weight loss app., you can forget about it. It’s still up to the person to follow their tips and program.

Content is good, app, not so much.

In general, the focus on weight is a bit annoying for me, I am more interested in reducing body fat for athletic performance. More specifically, the app is very frustrating. I already use MyFitnessPal for food logging, it’s good that Noom import the kcal but I’m not going to start doubling up entries just so I can see the red/yell/green foods. I also don’t like how Noom kcal are adjusted after exercise, it propagates the idea that you can exercise out a bad diet. I already set my activity level at the beginning so why is there a need to add extra calories on top of this? It’s just double counting. Further, it’s much easier for most people to eat about the same kcal every day, if I run a marathon I’m not going to suddenly consume an extra 3500 kcal afterwards just because the app says I should. If anything people ‘should’ eat according the the activities they plan to undertake, not what has been undertaken. The step counter and the water tracking are also kind of useless for me. I get that the app is trying to cover as many features as possible, it’s just a shame there’s no option to turn off/on the functionality that’s relevant, including the kcal adjustment. The coin earning thing is also annoying, popping up all the time when I just want to do the lesson etc. and seems to serve no actual function.

Poor Customer Service

Saw this as an ad on Facebook. Did everything and included payment through paypal, then after downloading the app it expected me to pay again via iTunes which I unsubscribed the latter. I asked the Noom Coach and the first coach never responded to my inquiry. The second one was a bit helpful but told me to email the support team for my concern, which I did and no reply. For the whole time I was on trial. The free app is fine, but you won’t be able to bookmark the tips and won’t get access with the coach, or use options to “skip meals”, but overall, it is not a bad app to keep. Just terrible customer service which I still have yet to find out if I was charged on Paypal. Maybe if they read this review, they’ll *actually* bother to respond....or not.
