Panel Room - Escape Game ‪-‬ 4+

It is a creative take on the given theme. The panels limit the player's view of the surroundings and you have to reconstruct the room in your mind. (Spoiler! For example, one entry of the roman numeral puzzle was great in that it was not bilaterally symmetric and reminded the player to take into account the mirror.)

I finished the main game without needing any hints, perhaps because I was very familiar with the developer's style. It was enjoyable but there are situations where random tapping is required with no logical precedent. (Spoiler! I accidentally discovered the item hidden inside the pillow.) There is an extra game where you have to find 10 objects but I don't feel like finishing the hidden object game.

I'm a huuuuge escape game girl and I'm so glad I came across this!! It's the second game I've played by the same creator, first one being Mimic Room. And while I enjoyed that a lot, this one's just on a whole different level. I'm hugely Rusty Lake-trained, so I would say I have quite a bit of decent know-how about most escape/point-and-click/puzzle games, but this was such an original concept that's wonderfully cohesive and coherent, where other games with unusual premises usually end up being too ambitious and under-executed.

The puzzles make sense, the items are actually useful and reusable, it isn't too hard nor too easy to progress, and overall it's just a really carefully thought out game that absolutely delivered. I did have to resort to random tapping at one point and discovered a hidden object while at it, but as soon as the reveal happened, I realized immediately what I was doing that caused it. If I had only been more mindful, that would have been a highly logical action to take. Brilliant. Don't even get me started on the visual and sound designs and all the tiny details that just make the game ten times better than it already is without them! 😤

I enjoyed the game through and through and when I finished, I thought, "Aww I wish there was more," and there was!! The extra level (?) was multilayered and it provided just the right amount of depth to add to the whole story, despite it being essentially a one-shot. I always get a little sad every time I finish an amazing escape puzzle because there's not too many good ones out there (and I've probably played most of them, even the not-so-great ones). I'm sooo happy I discovered this game. Now I'll go wallow in my post-game sadness until I get to play another that could top the experience I had playing this.
