Pokémon Masters EX 4+

It’s heavily battle/strategy and story oriented—more character RPG oriented than free roam like the core games. The game scales in difficulty reasonably, and if you want to get ambitious and challenge harder difficulties be prepared to think fast and choose right, the game is not forgiving if you want to play “brain dead”. That being said, the battle system is amazing, and really makes you think about your teams since pokemon selection is limited. If you love battling and want a game to waste time, this game will do just that for you.

The only “downside” is the afforementioned limited pokemon choice via scouting (basically gacha) and you might be left wanting for certain elements early on. Getting unpaid gems isnt hard, but this game certainly doesnt give them to you willy nilly, so you’ll have to hope to RNG that you get good rolls whenever you decide to try scouting.

Tldr:; Great game if you love battling pokemon. Fresh system. Downside is that its a gacha with limited pokemon choices.

If you like the characters and stories in the Pokémon games, then you’ll enjoy Pokémon Masters EX. You get to see your favorite trainers voiced and interact with them which is pretty fun.

The battles are different from the mainline games of course, opting for a more gimmicky 3-on-3 system. It’s not too difficult to grasp, but also not too easy that it’s boring. It does require some strategizing.

Do keep in mind though, that it’s a gacha game. Essentially you are gambling to collect characters to build your team for battles, and that might not be for everyone. The pity/guarantee rate is also quite steep. If you are F2P, I advise you to strictly save your gems and only spend it on units that you really want, and if you’re P2W, spend wisely. To be fair, the game is reasonably generous with free gems, but it’s really best to save them because the gacha rates are not so nice.

Aside from that though, it’s a fun game made with love (I believe the devs are fans themselves!) and good quality, perfect for de-stressing and lighthearted fun for any Pokémon fan.

Also Steven is really hot 👍

I’ve downloaded this game since it came out and have been a fan of it. Seeing the main characters, rivals, gym leaders, kahunas, elite four members and champions interact is so cool - like the game is an updated version of the Pokémon World Tournament in the Black 2 / White 2 games.

Thing is, in recent days, there’s been a bug of some sort that makes the game randomly force close. It makes it nearly impossible to form a team, let alone get a single match started. Even during a battle, the game force closes and it really spoils the experience of playing with the app.

I hope this gets addressed soon because I like this game a lot and I don’t want to drop it all because of some bug that’s preventing me from doing just that.
