I give Splice a 5-Star. I do have suggestions down below.
I am a student, and I’ve been using this app for awhile amd it is amazing. Complete with Font sets and a handful of effects, and sound effects which I used throughout my editing days at school. I love this app and would be recommending it to those students out there too, trying to find a suitable editor. I assure you that Splice is worth it.
To the company, please continue and keep evolving this app to be the perfect video editor on mobile phones.
I have some suggestions as well that I know would be a great help to you.
- Advanced layering, so we could place a png image over the background (To present a logo), or even another video on top, for creating quad video frames to preview on the screen.
- More effects and transitions, as I seem to have used them all for each video edit, which would seem redundant if I’d use them again.
- Lastly, the volume effects. It would be very helpful to add an interface that manages your sound input. Whether it would go high volume in one point, or low at the other. Just like the speed effect, this would make things easier rather than splitting and changing volume, which doesn’t create a smooth effect.
That’s all, I wouldn’t even know if you guys read this, the probability is low. But that’s my say. Keep up the great work!
This has been my 2nd video editor for a very long time.
When I was still a bit young, I would make dumb stuff and a lot of short videos. I accidentally broke my I-Pad where the Splice was on. Then I bought a new one. Obviously, I had to start over again. When that I-Pad broke, I have not used Splice for a very long time. Until now. I’ve grown up and I started my Splice all over again. Now, I make non-dumb videos and longer videos. Even videos that reached up to 12 minutes! Of course I didn’t put any effects to the 12 minute video but texts and titles. Making effects would just take longer for me.
Okay if you prefer not to edit on the computer
At first I like this app that I even bought a year subscription but after having used it more, bugs started showing up that you get so annoyed with it more often than not. The audio of your video files just disappears randomly and you have to close and open the project quite often. It reaaally slows down once you have more files on the timeline like 10 minutes and above and you’d feel the lag. You can’t move elements in batch so if you suddenly need to move an audio, you have to move the entire thing one by one. That among other several issues in the features. Probably my mistake to expect this would work editing a 20 minute vlog.
It’s perfect for when you’re editing short, simple videos like birthday clips but just a bit more complex than that, don’t expect more.
