Pixelmator Pro’s powerful image and vector tools make it a breeze to build rich 2D compositions. And with the latest version of the app, you can export those creations as Titles and Generators for Motion and Final Cut Pro graphics – your movies will look professionally designed in no time.
Here’s how to produce Hollywood-quality titles and graphics in just a few steps.
To get started, open a new document in Pixelmator Pro (File > New), choosing one of the video templates – for example, 4K UHDTV. Then create your titles and graphics.

When you’re done, save the project as a Motion Project. Choose File > Export, then select Motion Project as the format. (You have the option to customise the exported project’s Frame Rate and Duration.)

Open the resulting Motion Project in Motion and convert it to a Title, Generator, Transition or Effect (File > Convert Project to Type). To make it usable in Final Cut Pro, choose New Placeholder from the Title Source menu.

Next, save the resulting file as a Final Cut Pro template. Choose File > Save in Motion, name the template, pick a theme and category (where it will appear in Final Cut Pro’s browser) and check the Save Preview Movie box. (To enable the use of different media from the project if you edit it later, check the Include Unused Media box.)

Finally, open the relevant project in Final Cut Pro and expand the Titles item in the sidebar. Your new template is listed under the category you chose – simply drag the template into the timeline.

You can continue to tweak the new title in Final Cut Pro – any text you added in the original Pixelmator Pro document will remain fully editable.
