GAME OF THE DAY
A seriously explosive puzzle game.
Find a Way to Save the Houses!
Don’t you hate it when you clean up the living room and find an unexploded bomb under the sofa? Okay, so that never happens in the real world, but it’s an everyday occurrence in Bombarika.
In each level you’ll see an isometric room in which a bomb appears and starts rolling around. You need to get it out of there before the fuse runs out and it blows.
The problem? You don’t play a character walking around the room. You’re more like a poltergeist, who can open drawers, turn on fans and flip sofas over to roll the bomb into a safe zone. But that’s it.
It’s not the most realistic game in the world – the rooms are packed with zoom ramps that send objects flying, and who has those lying around? Still, Bombarika is full of tight little puzzles and the bomb mechanic adds slices of action, timing and quick thinking to the mix.
You also have to work out how to get rid of the bomb. Do you need to roll it under a flip-up bed or down through a trapdoor in the floor?
Once you’ve worked out the solution, there’s an extra goal to reach if you want to get a three-star score. Each level is peppered with collectables, but picking them all up in the time limit isn’t easy.
Bombarika’s developer reckons you’ll be able to finish the game in 45 minutes. Perhaps we’re just not as sharp as some, but we’ve spent longer than that trying to ace each puzzle.
