As anyone who has tried to keep a pot plant alive can attest, gardening isn’t as easy as the Chelsea Flower show makes it look.
Plant killers everywhere should rejoice, therefore, at Merge Gardens, where being green fingered is as easy as matching three – plus, bees can be hatched out of eggs (for some reason).
Players are tasked with cleaning up a kindly grandmother’s overgrown garden by merging three trees, flowers or animals into increasingly impressive flora and fauna.
As more areas open up, there’s more to manage and merge, and soon you’ll have a whole menagerie of fruit trees, birds and bees – but it’ll also take more nectar collected from your flowers to open up the next area.
While players wait for their army of cute hummingbirds and butterflies to harvest what they need, they have a series of challenging match-three puzzles to take on, earning them more items for their garden with every success.
It’s a compelling loop, and seeing your lawn fill up with daisies and apple trees is a real treat. Merge Gardens gives you the thrill of cultivating a beautiful garden, a test for your brain with the puzzles, and the feeling that you’re helping out a sweet old lady all at the same time. Awww.
