GAMING 101

Get started with Jurassic World Alive

Everything you need to be a dino-hunting pro.

If you’re going to be a useful member of Jurassic World Alive’s Dinosaur Protection Group, you’ll need to get to grips with hunting, breeding and battling.

Here’s how to get started.

Yes, this is a map of your actual location.

On the hunt

When you’re out and about looking for dinos, pay special attention to local landmarks, parks and public buildings. When you see a dino in the wild, tap it to launch your drone, then aim and shoot a DNA-collecting dart.

The closer you are to your target, the easier it’ll be to land a direct hit. But your drone has limited battery life, so fire those darts quickly.

You’ll have to get close to that einiosaurus if you want its DNA.

You’ll need to have successfully gathered up several DNA darts to engineer a living specimen of your own. Keep an eye out for supply drops (glowing blue cubes) which have caches of darts, coins, cash and other essentials.

Spin your dino on the Creation Lab platter to see a 360-degree view.

Grow your own

What to do with all your hard-won DNA? Create and crossbreed dinos and then pit them against other teams in battle, of course.

To start, tap the Collection tab, then select a creature profile to see if you can incubate it. (You may need to gather more DNA first.) Once you’ve found a dino with potential, tap Evolve and spend the cash you’ve earned to power it up, boosting its damage and health stats.

Know your dinos

Some cards in the lab are colour-coded. Blue is for rare dinos, yellow for epics, purple for legendary and green for unique. The rarer the dino, the more likely it is to be strong in battle.

And as your player level goes up in battles, you’ll be able to gather more DNA at a time. Your dinos really earn their scaly stripes!

Test your herd’s mettle in a dino-on-dino battle.

FIGHT!

Once you have four dinos in your stable, you can enter battles. You'll be matched up against players of similar skill, so you won’t be overwhelmed.

Remember: every creature has particular strengths and weaknesses. Study their abilities to see which dinos excel at attacking and which are useful at soaking up a lot of damage.

After choosing your first dino for battle, tap it to preview the type and level of damage it can dish out and the defences it can deploy. Think you can take down your foe with a basic attack? Great, but don’t waste effort on attacks with a long ‘cooldown’ period or you’ll be exposed to counterattacks.

As the battle rages on, rotate out your dinos so you can use the right ability at the right time. Win three rounds and you’re the victor, gaining coins and incubators to power up and expand your dino collection further.

Keep it real

Here’s a fun bonus: while in the Collection tab, you'll notice an Augmented Reality (AR) button next to some of your dinos. Tap this and you can beam these beasts in your real-life environment! You can scale your virtual dino to any size, from mini-menace to towering monster.
