Apollo is the FIRST application that enables you to add light sources to your **Portrait Mode** photos, after the photo was taken! Apollo reconstructs a 3D map of your photo which you can augment with new light sources in real time. Take your portrait mode photographs from awesome to unforgettable by selecting the color, intensity, distance of a light and illuminate your photos and selfies to your heart's content.

Apollo is the first app to use the depth data of your portrait mode photos to calculate photorealistic light and shadow. Using a proprietary processing algorithm running on your iPhone's graphics card, Apollo is able to render light sources on a portrait scene or selfie in real time.
Apollo allows professional photographers and amateurs alike to try things that are not possible in the physical world. You can shape scene lighting by adding or even removing light. Since lights are computationally rendered in the scene, it is possible to put a light source within the frame: say hello to invisible lamps!
The UI is optimised for use with one thumb, allowing you to always view the entire photo. One price, no in-app purchases and no subscriptions.

This is a very rare issue that we have not found the cause yet. In order to fix it please change your phone language to another one and then back to the one you have now. It sounds odd but is the only workaround!

Useless!
This app keeps saying that could not open this image as portrait depth data is not preserved, last program to edit portrait photos was on iOS 11.4 !!!
WHAT ???!!! I using iPhone X with portrait mode since day one, my software is up to date (11.4) and i'm 100% sure that depth is not erased as photos are not edited at all. This app is a JOKE!

here is the FAQ of Apollo app: https://apollo.camera/Faq where you can find lots of information about what are 'portrait mode' photos and why some photos cannot be processed. You can always take new 'portrait mode' photos (https://support.apple.com/HT208118) with your camera app and process them as you want. We agree with you that is disturbing that you cannot process many photos right now, but the reasons are not related to the functionality of the app. They are related to system limitations or format incompatibilities. For example if you backup your photos to iCloud you may have this issue also that is also not related to the app itself: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/8366936 We believe that is a bit unfair to give us a low rating due to limitations that are not related to the app. If you believe our response is of any value please consider updating your rating.
