HOW DOES A VPN WORK?
Avast Secureline is a VPN service that protects you from data theft by using a virtual encryption shield ‘tunnel’ to secure your public/open Wi-Fi connections. Once secured, your communications are impossible to spy on.
SUBSCRIPTIONS
* Length of subscription: one month; six months and one year.
* Trial: One year license goes with 7 days of free trial that you can cancel anytime without being charged 24h before end of trial.
* Payment will be charged to iTunes Account at confirmation of purchase.
* Subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24-hours before the end of the current period.
* Account will be charged for renewal within 24-hours prior to the end of the current period, and identify the cost of the renewal.
* Subscriptions may be managed by the user and auto-renewal may be turned off by going to the user’s Account Settings after purchase.
* Any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, will be forfeited when the user purchases a subscription to that publication, where applicable

Vpn connection sometimes is slow

Hi, thanks for your feedback. Unfortunately, it is the truth that the VPN may slow the internet connection down. There are two reasons for the slowdown:
1) The internet communication is being encrypted "on the fly".
There is being a 256 bit encryption applied on all your internet communication what creates quite a "load" on the device´s processors and generally slows everything down (you can imagine that it is like if you would have to use morse code instead of talking).
2) The internet communication is being re-routed over our secured server.
Now there depends on the location of the server. If you are (for example) in the Thailand and connect to the UK server then all your internet communication travels to the SecureLine UK server first, then to the server that holds the page you wish to view (what may be back in Thailand) and then back to the UK server and from it back to your device. As you can imagine this slows the speed of the communication down because of the "long way" the data has to travel.
Still, the speed should not go down to a level that it would make usage of internet impossible. Also if you would like to assure yourself a good speed, I recommend to try to use the "Optimal location" option.

Avast Ultimate is a total garbage
VPN is constantly disconnecting, servers are often not responding and it’s hard to reconnect. Speed test shows good connectivity but browsing web is a pain. It doesn’t have kill switch so when disconnected it leaks your data. Even worse when bought as Ultimate for Mac. Apps for Mac are bad, interferes with Private Relay disallowing to function when v VPN is off, even worse reconnecting, lack of stable protocols. Customer care is not responding in crucial cases, help desk only inform that they are sorry and will inform technicians about issues. I’m frustrated and disappointed after few days of usage. I totally not recommend.
Trial subscription
I have decided to check trial version of application during my one week visit in China. It does not work there, and I even couldn’t to unsubscribe before time of payment for the subscription artived. Finally I have been charged for the subscription while this application completely does not work in the place which it is for! I want my money back!
