Google Tasks: Get Things Done 4+

For me, this is the best task list app. Simplicity is its strength.

Please kindly add to the app the possibility to work without logging into your Google account. As a user I want to have the choice to work as an unsubscribe or logged in when I need to synchronize (this also applies to other applications such as Google Keep or Google Podcasts, which are also very good).

Please also for users,
who will be logged into the account and synchronize their private stuff add real encryption on the zero knowledge user side of the device. We want our task lists or notes etc. to be just for the eyes of their owners. You are a company that knows how important privacy is.

This is a very good tasks app. Until one wants to use recurring tasks or keep it in sync with the Google account.

When a recurring task is set for early morning, it will not appear for today automatically. It will only appear once the user opens the app. If I do not pick up the phone and open the app before the time the task was set to, too bad. The reminder notification will not go off. An easy solution would be to make recurring tasks populate their next occurrence the moment the previous occurence has been marked as completed. Somehow Google is not able to fix this despite multiple bug reports.

Also, synchronization between Google Tasks and Calendar apps is unreliable. Tasks rarely update in the background if one marks the task as completed in the Calendar app, or adds a new tasks there (or on the PC). This causes missed reminders.

The app is very rigid and allows little to no customizations. There is no option to view tasks for given dates (such as ‘today’), add labels to them or filter them in any other way than by already assigned lists.
Something I’ve been searching for since forever is a to-do app integrated with calendar in a way that it offers an option to assign tasks to certain events. Google Tasks doesn’t do that, but I’m using it because of its calendar.
