Pairing devices is problematic, poor app ux
There’s no option to pair my newly bought HEOS 5 wirelessly. I have to use audio cable. What’s more it gets lost every two weeks which is really frustrating and I have to pair it again from the scratch. What’s even worse I had to downgrade security for my whole WiFi because HEOS uses out of date WiFi standard (had to turn off AES encryption for WPA2)... there’s no other device in my WiFi network that has problem like HEOS and I have much older devices... it doesn’t look really good... ux of this app is another long story...
Destroyed by the last update
Up until the latest update, the app was ok. Easy to use, did its job. After the update, I hate using it. I basically do three things in the app: enable/disable zones, play online radio and adjust the volume in zones. Each of those views uses a different navigation pattern. And every of those patterns is obscure and unintuitive.
- to get to the volume panel, I musi click the currently playing bar in the main screen and then the volume icon
- “currently playing” view hides main navigation bar (home/rooms/search), introduce its own navigation bar and is dismissed by swiping down anywhere on the screen
- volume view cannot be dismissed by swiping down; volume button must be clicked again…
- … but if I swipe near the top of the screen, I can still close whole “currently playing” panel with volume panel in it
The UX is now terrible and I feel I can figure things out only because I know what I’m looking for from the previous version of the app. Would hate to be the first time user.
No scrolling? No play all?
The ease of use isn't perfect, but the mostly frustrating are two lacks:
No possibility to scroll music playing from USB source.
No possibility to play all music or to add selected folders to playlist.
Why it was not applied? This seems to be basic of basic....
