Con motivo del VIII centenario de la Universidad de Salamanca, entre el 15 al 20 de julio de 2018 se realiza en 56º Congreso Internacional de Americanistas (ICA). Bajo el lema «Universalidad y particularismo en las Américas», el ICA reúne a investigadores que estudian el continente americano, desde Alaska hasta Tierra de Fuego, incluyendo el territorio del Caribe, a partir del análisis de su política, economía, cultural, lenguas, historia y prehistoria.
