With iOS 11 Apple released the "Files" app as the official file manager. However saving files locally on your device somehow is not possible - using some cloud service is your only option.
Local Storage attempts to fix this. After installation it provides a non-syncing storage space for files of any kind in "Files".
You can now also transfer files and folders via iTunes "File Sharing". Local Storage shows up here as an option to save into as well.
Local Storage provides some general infos and several beautiful visualisations for the files you saved into it.
Another useful thing that is included is a share extension to extract compressed archives: zip, tar and 7zip files.
Finally Local Storage comes with an action extension that allows you to hash any file, video or image using the CRC32, MD2, MD4, MD5, SHA1, SHA224, SHA256, SHA384 and SHA512 algorithms.
Local Storage is not a file manager - and doesn't want to be one. Apple's "Files" app is a very capable and stable solution for copying/moving/renaming/etc.
Local Storage is Open Source, developed publicly at https://github.com/geberl/swift-localstorage

It you like Local Storage, please tweet about it or review it on the App Store.
- Introduced an invisible placeholder file, so that Local Storage always shows up in the Files app
- Some UI fixes (scrolling lists in landscape) courtesy of Femi Lamptey
- Updated libraries for (un)zipping und displaying the type chart and treemap
- Support for HEIF/HEIC image files
- Converted from Swift 4.1 to Swift 4.2 (and Xcode 9.x to Xcode 10.0)

A must have
Awesome - does what it’s supposed to and nothing more. Takes up very little disk space. Never had it crash or otherwise malfunction. If you want to take control over your iPad’s internal storage but found buying a whole new file manager app, look no further. This is an app for you.
The tool I needed most!
This is the best tool ever. Small, neat and does what it should. However I'd add an option to remove the third tab (Files) as we should use Apple's Files app instead of duplicating the functionality. Also please change an icon color to something more appealing 😉.
