I was curious to try out an app that seems to be handling Chinese classes for Polish speakers, which would be the only such combination in the app market. I was already a bit peeved when the app has corrected the structure of the sentence in my native language (Polish). Polish is an inflected language which allows different positions of words in the sentence. Bad localization, I thought. But it is the mistakes in the Chinese course, such as not taking into account the fact that Chinese also can put different components of sentence in different positions (topic-first) that made me realize that this app is just bad, it is not just badly localized. The „advanced” classes of Chinese in reality are perhaps mid-level. The app also forces to use pinyin instead of focusing on the characters, which doesn’t suit advanced speakers (nor intermediate level speakers, by the way). Overall, not enough thought went into designing the lesson content and the method of learning. Graphic design is cute though.

Thank you for taking the time to submit an app review, while we wish that your rating was higher, I understand your frustrations. Multiple translations is something new to us, as we have always previously trained specifically how the lessons teach the words in example sentences, to ensure consistent answers from all users. We recently gained the understanding that some people have a good enough handle on the language that they are trying to learn/natively speak, what we need to offer flexibility in our app.
If we can have native speakers, such as yourself, submit error reports from within the lessons by tapping the ! inside of a circle, you can tell us where the flexibility is within your language and we will verify it with Polish teachers and if they agree, we will update the app to match your expectations. If the teachers disagree, we will reply to your error report to let you know what grammatically speaking we were advised that the flexibility is not grammatically correct. I hope that this helps! At the beginning the app was pretty good, so i went with free trial. During the free trial it often pronounced different text from the one was written in the example. It was pretty annoying but it wasn’t very big deal because I understood what the written and played text so I ignored it. Then I started telling me that my answers were wrong and when they showed me the correct version it was identical to mine. That was also pretty annoying. And while at the beginning i was planning to switch to a payed account at the end of the trial i was disappointed with the app so i cancelled the free trial. And when i thought to give the app a second chance it just greeted me with white screen when i wanted to log in or to create a new account. The app just stop working and I can’t do anything. That is pretty upsetting because it was great in the beginning :( so 1 star
