Description

Discover your child’s world!

With the Pebbles app, you can help your child explore the world. Just like real-life pebbles that jointly shape the path on which your child discovers the world, a child’s development is not only marked by the major milestones. The seemingly tiny advances also play an important role. We understand that every little achievement is a valuable part of the development process and want to support parents in capturing and celebrating these precious moments.

Helpful information and illustrations make it easy to understand when and how your child's new skills emerge and flourish. Along with all the unforgettable moments and memories, all your child's milestones are kept in one place, in a playful, scientific and entertaining way, for one or more children between 0 and 6 years of age.

Features

Babies and children develop new skills almost every day. Sometimes they are easy to observe in daily life, sometimes a playful task can help to highlight them. Using clear criteria and explanatory illustrations, the Pebbles app quickly informs you whether your child has already accomplished a development step or is still in the process of learning it. You can follow your child’s development by answering skill-relevant questions until the age of 6.

By doing this, you will not only learn about the emergence of your child's abilities but also help us at the University of Zurich to understand the individual development of children and evaluate in what order children master new skills.

Learn interesting facts about the most important development steps of children with the Pebbles app. When interested in specific progress, you can search for, select and learn more about motor skills, speech or perception. You will learn which prerequisites are needed for a particular developmental step and receive useful tips on how to support your child's progress.

Capture the best moments in your child's development wherever you are, with a photo or text, simple and intuitive in a personal diary. Entries are displayed chronologically in the Pebbles app, including the milestones that your child achieved.
Each moment and devlopment step recorded in the diary can be shared via SMS, email and social media. Additionally, you can download the complete diary in PDF format. A printed version of your child’s diary is guaranteed to bring joy to friends and relatives!

Who is behind it?

Every day children learn new things and astonish us adults over and over again. We, at the Department of Developmental Psychology: Infancy and Childhood at the University of Zurich, made a profession out of our amazement about child development.
We explore how babies and toddlers discover the world – how they learn, think and act. By using the app, you help us collect and evaluate valuable data and information about children's development.
