Industry Leading Security Features
Messages are stored on Proton Mail servers using end-to-end encryption at all times and are transmitted securely between Proton servers and user devices. This largely eliminates the risk of message interception.

Zero Access to Your Email Content
Proton Mail's zero access architecture means that your data is encrypted in a way that makes it inaccessible to us. Data is encrypted on the client side using an encryption key that Proton does not have access to. This means we don't have the technical ability to decrypt your messages.

Open-Source Cryptography
Proton Mail's open-source software has been thoroughly vetted by security experts from around the world to ensure the highest levels of protection. Proton Mail only uses secure implementations of AES, RSA, along with OpenPGP, while all of the cryptographic libraries used are open source. By using open-source libraries, Proton Mail can guarantee that the encryption algorithms used do not have clandestinely built-in back doors.

Proton Mail in the press:
“Proton Mail is a Gmail-like email system which uses end-to-end encryption, making it impossible for outside parties to monitor.” Forbes

“A new email service being developed by a group who met at MIT and CERN promises to bring secure, encrypted email to the masses and keep sensitive information away from prying eyes.” Huffington Post

Keep investing in security, waiting for Calendar/Drive on iOS

Happy to hear you engage Securitum to perform the security audit! Please continue ongoing investment in security of the apps and infrastructure.

I would prefer to get Calendar and Drive support on iOS instead of visual changes in the mail app (iOS or web beta) application (it looked very nice, clear and simple before the changes).

Improve UI/UX and add U2F support

To be honest. If you want money for your service and more customers, you must deliver a high quality product. From technical, UI and UX side. If we talk about technical side, you don’t still have U2F support. I would like to reminder it’s only way to protect against phishing. UI and UX of your app is really bad IMO. You don’t even have the conversation grouping feature in the mobile app. Your service isn’t cheap, so I don’t understand why there are so many fails in different domains. I will give you more stars and consider paying for your service if you add at least the conversation grouping feature and U2F support. I believe you can give more in UI and UX areas as well.

UPDATE (feedback for the developer’s answer):
Sure. I will give you more stars with pleasure if I find improvements. I will also appreciate when there are no limits in the plus plan such as limits in sending/receiving emails per day. There shouldn’t be any such limit if someone pay for the service imo. These things will encourage me to pay for your service, because you do a good job in the privacy area, and thank you for that, but at the moment both mentioned limits and your mobile app is not good enough to pay for it.

Developer Response ,

Hi! Thank you for your feedback. Many new features will come to the mobile apps with the 4.0 redesign on which we are currently working on. U2f is coming post 4.0 as that's a prerequisite for u2f. We would really appreciate it if you could reconsider your rating once these features are available.

Good but slow in some cases

The app is quite good and I really like the privacy aspect of the service. There’s a minor detail that’s a bit annoying- opening up an email with a lot of attachments (35 in my case), freezes the UI for like 2/3 seconds, after which the email opens.

Not sure if the count of attachments is relevant, but emails with no attachments open up immediately. I understand how the excessive attachments might be an issue, but you could potentially let me read the email’s body, and grey out the attachments until they’re ready. On top of that, some caching mechanism to help with repeated opening. Not the expert though, so you guys figure it out :D

I’m willing to go back and bump this review to 5 stars once that is fixed :)
