Qatar SPIEF Delegation Support 4+

The State of Qatar is participating in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2021 (SPIEF’21) as a Guest Country. The delegation includes 50 high-profile organizations, and is perhaps the largest business delegation to represent the nation at global events.

Qatar and Russia boast thriving bilateral relations since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1988, with Qatar being the largest investor in Russia amongst Arab nations. The Gulf State's honorary position at the forum demonstrates its steadfast commitment to cement mutual cross-border cooperation.

Considerable trade and diplomatic dialogues, culminating with the 2007 trade treaty, turned Qatar into the 7th largest source of FDI inflows in Russia in 2019 and a dynamic hub to 50 jointly owned Qatari-Russian firms, powered by Invest Qatar’s investment vision.

On a cultural front, the Qatar-Russia Year of Culture 2018 marked the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and was the first celebration of the Russian heritage in the Gulf. It served to commemorate the unique traditions of both countries.

Under the leadership of His Highness, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, the country - which is the host to the FIFA World Cup 2022 and the Asian Games 2030 - aims to enhance its economic, investment, technological, and sports potential with Russian stakeholders at SPIEF.
