Life changer

I have started my meditation practice with Waking Up having almost no experience before. It literally changed my life. I’ve been struggling with depression and anxiety for a long time and now I finally see hope to get better for good. Sam explains how important it is to share love, kindness and compassion with others and how to accept yourself and your place in the world. He does it in a fully non-religious way with respect for science and logic. It is really brave of him to pay so much attention to psychedelics and their therapeutic potential.

The app is beautifully designed and intuitive in use. It combines daily practice with theory, the lesson are so wise you can listen to them a few times and still get something new every time. Sam is an extremely wise and good man and a talented teacher. He explains everything in a few different ways so that everybody could understand and relate. I really appreciate the interviews with other meditators, teachers and scholars. User support is extremely helpful (thank you Karl!). I am so happy I had a chance to experience all that and I can’t wait to see where the meditation path I’ve just started will take me.

Update moved almost all content behind paywall

Perhaps I misunderstand something here, but my positive experience has recently been disturbed by almost everything being moved behind the paywall of membership subscription. There is almost no content available for free anymore. I had installed the app for a while, was an occasional user of it and as I am quite intrigued by what Sam has to say, was happy to engage with the app on a somewhat casual level for a while, intending to pay more attention at a later not too distant stage of my life, including paying for a subscription to make the most out of it. After the update to the app with new logo etc. I suddenly was informed that my free trial that I hadn't consciously started was about to expire. It did expire since a while now and I literally get nothing out of the app anymore. I find that quite unfortunate. So I'd be happy if the relation between paid and unpaid content could be tilted a bit back towards including some free content for folks to engage with at the beginning, without requiring the somewhat substantial financial commitment right away. That coming from the perspective of a single dad from a less wealthy part of the world.

Unbelievable

The support, history, values behind it, and the dedication of people creating it is unbelievable and definitely worth supporting. I haven’t seen anything quite like that before especially when it comes to guided meditation apps. I am struggling with depression, panic distorted, eating disorder, anxiety and the way the minutes for myself provided by this app gave me the appreciation for myself ( i’m of course still working on it it’s not a miracle , but an amazing aid, guidance and support ) is truly unbearable. I could not get to that point for years and years of my life. I am so grateful, and to all the people that contributed to that beautiful organisation - thank you. A great thank you from the bottom of my heart. I don’t know if I would be here today if it wasn’t for you and i am thankful for that.
