From time to time, the Canary auto-mode switching feature may briefly access your GPS in order to have high confidence in your location. Battery life is very important to us and we do many things to ensure we use it sparingly. Please be aware that continued use of GPS services running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

Getting worse after each upgrade and losing key functionalities

I can’t see full videos from automatic notifications anymore unless I subscribe to membership. The notifications have little use if they do not show the full video event, sometimes I can’t even clearly see what caused the notification.
If I need to pay to get notifications full video, 2 way audio and more than 24 hours events then there are better products like Arlo.
On the last update I cannot even watch live if I’m at home, so I cannot monitor my kids !!

Get worse and pushing customers to pay subscription or do not get anything useful

I bought the canary camera because it was offering video surveillance without a monthly subscription fee and was allowing a full view of the complete motion events.
However one of the features missing that was present on many other basic video monitoring solutions was the 2-way audio.
On the latest versions this feature was implemented but you need to pay the subscription fees.
Now on the last version you don’t even see the full motion videos without the subscription !!!
This is useless, i see people on my house for a few seconds and the video stops without us seeing what they are doing. It was already bad to have events for the last 24h now incomplete events has no real value to me. There are better surveillance systems for the money especially if you need to pay the member fee.
Just have a look into Skybell (just an example) and you will be surprised what this one is missing.
