What A Day Looks Like in Pokémon Sleep
■ When Night Falls...
It’s time to track your sleep! All you need to do is place your smart device by your pillow (don’t place your device under your pillow or blankets as it may overheat), then call it a night.
■ A New Day Dawns
By the time you wake, Pokémon will have gathered in Pokémon Sleep based on your sleep type and how long you slept for. Carry out research on these Pokémon’s sleep styles to complete your Sleep Style Dex!
■ And the Rest of the Day...
Raise Snorlax big and strong! Snorlax will grow larger by receiving Berries from the Pokémon you befriend. The more you raise Snorlax, the greater your odds will be of encountering Pokémon with rare sleep styles!
Rest Your Very Best!
■ Check Your Sleep Report
What kind of sleep did you get last night? Your sleep report contains tidbits like how long you took to fall asleep, how long you spent in different sleep stages, and whether you snored or talked in your sleep.
■ Get Support to try to Sleep Your Best
You can have Pokémon at your side even when you sleep! With features like Pokémon-inspired music to relax you into sleep, plus smart alarms that wake you when you’re in a shallow stage of sleep, Pokémon Sleep may help you to rest your very best.

A solid management collect-a-thon, but with a few issues
It’s a nice, relaxing game themed around sleeping and monster collecting. You manage your resources during the day, train on your sleeping schedule and quality, and study the sleeping habits of Pokémon when you wake up. The gameplay loop lasts a full week (represented by the creature Snorlax that the players interact with), with bonuses being given to increase the next week’s efficiency.
The graphics and user interface focus on a relaxed approach with pleasant imagery and the company of the iconic monsters, forsaking any mentions of battling that are often common on their franchise.
Players can forego the diurnal management on busy days (at a negligible cost of performance), and there are a lot of monsters and factors to explore with your management skills. There are tools to evaluate your sleep performance and even a shared study with friends who also play the game.
There is a significant difference in a player’s progress between playing for free and playing with paid purchases. A monthly pass is also included, which increases the quality of the player’s daily progress and the availability of resources, both in quality and pricing.
There are two prevalent issues when playing this game.
The first is having the phone on the bed during sleep time, being a liability during a phase the user has no control of what can help. From the phone’s accidental fall out of bed to radio frequencies affecting the user’s health, there are various problems that may arise from having a phone next to the user on their bed.
The second is an obligatory play session at the morning, right after awakening, that may elongate the waking routine and influence bad habits.
The developers have mitigated these issues with in-game fixes and a purchasable gadget safe to use during sleep, the Pokémon Go Plus +, but they don’t outright remove the added step that is imposed into hasty morning routines.
All in all, the game is a solid pick for players with any age that would like to explore their sleep habits and try a harmless collect-a-thon. However, the phone requisites during bedtime demand caution that, in my opinion, should be consulted with a doctor for cases out of the norm.
