4. Meerkat is ready to use by simply creating a PIN code. No user registration is required. No personal information such as e-mail address, social networking account, or phone number are collected.
5. Zero-trust is Meerkat's motto. Unlike other apps, there is no centralized server. User's data is encrypted then distributely stored in multiple cloud storages designated by the user. The cloud storages can be Meerkat Storage, or user's own storage (BYOS), e.g., iCloud, Google Drive. User's system data such as PIN code, master encryption key, double lock passwords, etc. are stored and only stored on the user's local device.
