Very buggy - a step backwards
I’m not really sure what the NHL was trying to do when creating a separate app for streaming games from international markets - the regular NHL app used to handle this service and did a pretty good job of it, far better than this new app anyway. Also, the lack of a dedicated Apple TV app seems very lazy.
This current app has all kinds of bugs associated with logging in and staying logged in. Additionally, large chunks of games have been blocked out/cut from the replay feeds, for no apparent reason. It’s just a very sloppy and bumbling rollout of the app, and I’m far more disappointed with my choice to subscribe again after doing so for each of the last seven seasons. Also, all intermission shows/reports have been cut out, which is a big change this year.
It’s early enough in the season that perhaps these issues get fixed, but my initial impressions are that the app is underwhelming and that the NHL does not value or take its international fan base seriously.
