Good, not necessary, but nice!
For a history buff like myself, this is an interesting refresher. It gets you thinking on how the past is relevant to today and just generally makes you more curious. One thing I would like to see incorporated here are links describing the events in more details like maybe Wilipedia or at least an option to save favorite events or sent them to your email. But is a nice app to have around.
