Great so far
I have had Revolut for little over ten months. The first time i started to have funds wired they did freeze the account and with their customer service people, after explaining where the money came from and they got feedback from myself, i never had other issues and everything was unlocked the same day. I have made many transfers, payments since then and everything works fine. For all the people writing about “ they froze my funds” do any explain why? Of course they will freeze accounts, just like ANY BANK, if you start getting large amounts as soon as you open the account. I rather have it like this and keep things safe. Used Revolut in several countries and the exchange rates and everything else was ok. The only problem is that one should not use the exchange rates from Friday afternoon til Monday as the rates are very bad during this time. Otherwise, everything is great.
They limited my account when I needed it the most
I used to be in love with Revolut. I recommend it to all my friends and family. And then I had to make a larger payment (rent deposit) and of course I decided to use Revolut. Great exchange rate, no commission, what’s to lose, right? Wrong! The weekend before the transfer, my wife transferred me some money. It wasn’t a very large sum, but just a bit larger than the usual (for the deposit). So Revolut limited my account on Friday requesting proof of income and whatnot. Fine, I uploaded the needed files and then support contacted me inquiring about the nature of the transfer my wife made :|. I provided that also and they decided I wasn’t laundering money or something so they unlocked the account on Saturday. All was fine and well again... until Sunday. Account limited again, the same story - proof of income and the whole story again. But on Sunday support is not available, since, well, it’s Sunday. So they responded on Monday. After multiple attempts of contacting them (remember, I had to do the transfer on Monday). Most of my money were blocked on Revolut for the transfer and limiting my account meant I couldn’t get them out and I was afraid that if I transfer them back to my wife, she would have to go through the same stupid process again.
So yeah, if you like living on the edge, do use Revolut.
Promotions very bad handled by beginners
There was a bonus promotion where you had to invite your friends / contacts to download the app, order a card and make a purchase in less then 14 days. The card arrives in 10-13 days. So you have 1 day to make the purchase.
Now the interesting part: I convinced also my father to order the card. He had received a bonus of 5€ instead of 10 (for Spain) but the next day the bonus was gone because for some reason the promotion was not seen as a referal.
Because I have invited him I was sopposed to receive my bonus of 20€ but I never did. I tried to solve the problem by chat support and they don’t know what has happened. What they did was to remove the 5€ bonus of my father. Now how is going my father to thrust this bank and topup his account with money if they are not capable to handle this 25€ problem. I don’t want to imagine a 25k problem. I waisted 4 days chatting with them and receive answers like “maybe you have received the bonus in a different currency”. If you have access to all the info/transactions/logs you don’t use the word “maybe”. At this point maybe somebody else has received the bonus.
All the accounts are in UK. I still didn’t see any info about what are they going to do in October after No Deal Brexit.
