Description
Vinegar is a Safari extension that replaces the YouTube player with a minimal HTML video tag.
It removes ads, restores picture-in-picture, and keeps videos playing in the background.
Note: The "can read information from webpages" text in the permission section is just unfortunate wording. Vinegar needs access to the web page to find the YouTube player and replace it. It's not doing anything creepy!
(By the way, check out Vinegar's companion app, Baking Soda. It's basically a less powerful version of Vinegar, but it works on all websites other than YouTube.)

Ratings and Reviews
Good extension but can be better
The extension is great, since it lets you skip by double pressing and the picture in picture works as well. However, I think there are few points that are a bit annoying:
1. Playback speed resets to 1x when changing the video
2. You can’t browse for new videos except for the related ones without stopping the video which is currently playing
Great
Great. However, it stopped working altogether in ios 17.1 on an iphone. The controls don’t appear and ads keep appearing. Turning off the extension and on again fixes the issue
Excellent extension
One more thing. If it's doable, please add an option so that videos can start playing in full screen. Thanks.
