Wakeout!

Exercise for busy people

VIEW

Can’t get out of bed? Feeling lethargic at the office? Stuck in your head? Wakeout can give you the jolt you need.

With energising movement sessions that last less than most pop songs, Wakeout makes no claim about magically transforming your physique. Its deceptively simple purpose is to bring you back to life, be it from a dream or sitting for too long at your desk.

Much-needed pep is just a quick workout away.

The moves in After Sleep, which are engineered to get your blood pumping before you start your day, might include sock taps (lie on your back and lift one foot at a time) or pillow swings (repeatedly lift a pillow overhead). All of the moves are meant to be performed as quickly as possible.

The approach is amusing and effective. A “Reading Power Up,” performed on a couch, calls for seated twists and extending and shaking one’s arms in a manner that would work equally well at a Kundalini yoga class or on a bar mitzvah dance floor.
